Neuropsychology Assessment

Comprehensive and expert assessment of cognition (thinking and memory), emotions, and behaviour. The purpose of this could be to better understand the impacts of your brain condition, give a diagnostic opinion about the cause of your difficulties, and/or to give ideas about how to best help and support you.

What it involves:

  • Detailed interview with you and your support people about your concerns and your history.

  • Review of available medical records and other information you provide.

  • Doing tests together in the office. This can take 2 - 4 hours to complete, so break time or multiple appointments can be arranged.

  • You and your support people completing other questionnaires, depending on your concerns and needs.

  • Preparation of a detailed report for you and your care team about the findings of the assessment, and the support recommendations.

  • Feedback appointment/s with you and your support people to help you understand the findings.

  • Strategies for you and your support people to improve or maximise your everyday functioning.

  • Ongoing follow-up can then be arranged, to help support your recovery and implement the assessment recommendations.

Support & Intervention

The Neuropsychologist can support you and your loved ones in a number of different ways:

  • Counselling for you in order to help you cope better, adjust, and understand yourself and your brain. This could include addressing symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and emotional dysregulation.

  • Counselling for loved ones and support people, to help them cope better, adjust, understand you and your brain, and how to best support you. The well-being of loved ones and carers is extremely important.

  • Follow-up support after a Neuropsychology Assessment, in order to help you, your loved ones, and your care team to improve and maximise your everyday functioning. This usually involves assistance to develop and implement practical strategies to support the cognitive, emotional, or behavioural difficulties identified through the assessment process.
